The Sky Children (U.S.A.) began as a “solo” tribute to the underground English music of 1967 and 1968 by Matt Hudgins, and through the indulgence and participation of a growing group of musical friends — most especially producer, engineer and multi-instrumentalist Joe McMullen — became a sprawling sudsy mass of summertime pop ridiculousness.
This tribute came to be in the form of Bummer of Love, a limited run CD-R released in the summer of 2008. The follow-up, 2016’s digital only We Must Radiate The Earth, was an all-synthesizer concept album about a race of aliens hiding aboard a massive ship on the far side of the sun and influencing human history to affect a final nuclear holocaust that would create a sufficiently radioactive atmosphere to allow them to colonize the planet.
